Labrador Retriever Training

When the Labrador Retriever is only a puppy, keep training sessions short and sweet. Obedience training right away will develop the pup into a well-mannered adult. Because Labs have a deep history of being working dogs, they need consistency and direction to reach their potential. Not to mention lots and lots of love! Come, sit, and potty should be the first priority. You can achieve this by repetitive instructions and getting excited about small successes. Once they have the basics down, they will be able to learn more advanced tasks. The pup is a natural athlete and can master skills such as dock diving, agility training and retrieving. Stay positive and don't take their curiosity too seriously. Labs love to please their owners and will do anything to make you happy. Especially if they know it results in treats!
